Shrubs, 0.3-2.5 m. Buds alba-type. Leaves: stipules on late ones foliaceous; largest medial blade 3.3-12 times as long as wide, adaxial surface not glaucous. Staminate flowers: filaments glabrous. Pistillate flowers: adaxial nectary shorter to longer than stipe; stipe 0.1-1.2 mm; ovary very densely woolly or tomentose; stigmas with flat, non-papillate abaxial surface and rounded tip, 0.4-0.45-0.52 mm.
Species 2 (1 in the flora): North America, Asia.
