    Annual herb, erect, 70-80 cm tall. Stems simple or more often branched, terete, densely velutinous with silky hairs or glandular trichomes; branches sometimes ascending. Leaves elliptic to oblong, sessile or petiolate, 10-12×3.5-4.5 cm, apex obtuse, base attenuate, margins doubly serrate or sometimes slightly variously lyrately lobed, tomentose on upper surface, woolly on lower surface, veins 5-8 pairs. Heads 7-8 mm long, 2.5-3.5 mm across, in axillary and terminal dense to lax panicles. Involucres campanulate bracts in 2 or 3 series, outer ones shorter, linear-lanceolate, 1.5-2.5×0.2-0.3 mm, densely velutinous with multicellular and glandular hairs; inner ones linear, 4-5 mm long, 0.2-0.3 mm wide, margins ciliate. Receptacle convex, alveolate, glabrous. Central florets yellowish, 6-7 mm long, with 5 triangular lobes, lobes with sessile glands and multicellular hairs. Outer florets 5 mm long, 2-5 lobed, limb glandular. Achenes oblong, sparsely hirsute. Pappus white, 4 mm long. Chromosome number, 2n = 36 (Peng & Hsu, 1978).
