Platanthera dentata (Sw.) Lindl.
Plants to 80 cm tall. Tuberoids ellipsoid, 3-5 cm long, densely hirsute. Stems slender, simple, with remotely spaced leaves on lower half, with narrow scales on upper half. Leaves 3 or more, alternate, ovate-lanceolate to oblong, 7-15 cm long, 2-3 cm wide, apex acute, decurrent at base, scales linear-lan-ceolate, 3-4 cm long. Peduncle up to 40 cm long, rachis ca. 10 cm long, ± densely many flowered; bracts linear-lanceolate, 15-25 mm long, 4-5 mm wide, acuminate; pedicel and ovary 20-25 mm long. Flowers white, ca. 3 cm across; dorsal sepal erect, ovate, 10-15 mm long, 5-8 mm wide, acute, 3-nerved; lateral sepals reflexed, obliquely ovate, 12-10 mm long, 6-8 mm wide; petals narrowly falcate, 8-10 mm long, 2.5-3 mm wide; lip flabellate, 15-20 mm long, 3-lobed, lateral lobes triangular or rectangular, 10-15 mm long, middle lobe linear, 8- 12 mm long, spur cylindrical, 3-4 cm, straight or slightly curved forward; column 5 mm wide; anther cells widely separate, nearly parallel; pollinia yellow, with slender caudicles ca. 2.5 mm long, viscidia triangular; stigma 2, with stalk under rostellar arm.
