Senecio scandens var. crataegifolius (Hayata) Kitam.
Stems suberect or ascending, sometimes nearly scandent, 10-60 cm tall, branched or simple, subglabrous. Petiole 2-5(-7) mm long. Leaves 1-4×1-2 cm, thick chartaceous, triangular, incised dentate with broad triangular teeth, sometimes lobulate toward base, pubescent on both surfaces. Heads usually few, in lax corymbs, terminal. Heads 13-14 mm across, peduncle 0.5-2 cm long, bracteate, bracteoles (1-)2-10, linear, 1-2 mm long. Involucre cylindric-campanulate, 5-8×3-5 mm, bracts ca. 8 or 9, lanceolate to narrowly oblong, acute. Ray florets 8 or 9, corolla yellow, ca. 9×2 mm, corolla tube 4.5 mm long; disc florets 5 lobed, ca. 1 mm long, corolla 5-6 mm long. Achenes cylindric, ca. 3×0.6 mm, 5-ribbed, short pilose on ridges. Pappus 5-6 mm long, white.
