阿里山線柱蘭

  • Zeuxine arisanensis Hayata

    Terrestrial herbs. Stems nearly erect, to 12 cm tall, leafy upward, rooting at base. Leaves ovate-lan-ceolate, 3-4 cm long, 1.5-1.8 cm wide, apex acute, base obtuse, upper surfaces shaded with shining silver, 2 lateral main veins hardly recognizable in fresh materials. Peduncle to 15 cm long, hairy, with 2-3 bract-like sheaths, sheaths hairy abaxially, ciliate at margins; rachis 5-15 cm long, to 37-flowered; floral bracts hairy, with reddish-brown midrib; ovary brownish green, hairy. Sepals 4.0-5.2 mm long, hairy abaxially, dark brownish green, dorsal one ovate, lateral ones obliquely ovate-elliptic; petals white, semi-oblong or semi-obovate, 3.8-5.0 mm long; lip white, 4.5-5.5 mm long, tripartite, Y-shaped when flattened, hypochile saccate, bearing 2 papillae of varied shape, mesochile slender, gradually turning thinner and narrower toward epichile, bent downward toward epichile, epichile dilated and bilobed, 5.5-6.2 mm across, lobules rhombic-rectangular or rhombic-oblong, 2.7-3.2 mm long, 1.5-2.0 mm wide; column 2-2.5 mm long, with 2 ventral appendages, appendages tabular, ca. 0.5 mm long, 0.2 mm high, with sharply pointed epidermal cells similar to those on epichile of lip; anther triangular-lanceolate; stigma 2, on lateral sides of column; rostellum slender, slightly bent downward; tegula stipe ca. 1.3 mm long, enlarged at base and bearing viscidium; viscidium ca. half length of tegula.

    NANTOU: Fonghuang, Leou 3555-2; Chitou, Leou 3772; Reichu, Leou 3936.

    Himalaya. Taiwan, only in the central part near Chitou, but quite common in this area.
