华夏蒲桃 hua xia pu tao
Trees, to 6 m tall. Branchlets grayish brown when dry, 4-angled. Petiole 7-11 mm; leaf blade narrowly oblong, 11-15 × 3-4.5 cm, leathery, abaxially brownish when dry, adaxially black and slightly glossy when dry, secondary veins 8-11 on each side of midvein, 8-10 mm apart, and with additional parallel veins between them, reticulate veins abaxially conspicuous, intramarginal veins 2-3 mm from margin, base cuneate, apex slightly acute. Inflorescences axillary, paniculate cymes, 3-5 cm, many-flowered; peduncle terete, ca. 1 cm. Hypanthium ca. 5 mm. Calyx lobes 4, shortly triangular, 1.5-2 mm. Petals white, distinct, ovate to orbicular, 5-7 mm. Stamens 1-1.5 cm; anthers small, apex with a gland. Style ca. 1.5 cm. Fl. Jan-Feb.
