田阳鹅耳枥 tian yang e er li

Shrubs to 3 m tall; bark gray. Branchlets gray-brown, densely yellow-brown villous. Petiole 1-1.2 cm, densely villous; leaf blade ovate-lanceolate, 0.9-1.3 × 0.7-1.2 cm, subleathery, both surfaces villous along midvein, base subrounded, margin irregularly and doubly serrate, apex acuminate; lateral veins 7-11 on each side of midvein, raised abaxially, impressed adaxially. Female inflorescence 2-3.3 × 1-1.2 cm; peduncle 0.5-1.5 cm, densely yellow-brown villous; bracts broadly semiovate, (0.7-)1.1-1.3 cm × 4-6 mm, both surfaces sparsely villous along reticulate veins, outer margin minutely serrate, without basal lobe, inner margin entire or simply or doubly serrate distally, with inflexed basal auricle, apex acute; veins 3 or 4. Nutlet ovoid, ca. 2.5 × 2 mm, sparsely pubescent, densely villous at apex, ribbed. Fl. May-Jun, fr. Jul-Aug.
