Shrubs, to ca. 3 m tall. Branches brownish, pubescent when young, with scattered recurved prickles. Petiole 2-7 cm, sometimes with a prickle at base; petiolules very short; leaflets (3-)5, oblong or oblanceolate, 2-8 × 0.8-3 cm, papery, both surfaces glabrous, secondary veins 5 or 6 pairs, base gradually narrowed, margin entire or apically crenate-serrate, apex acute to shortly acuminate. Inflorescence terminal, a solitary umbel, borne on leafy shoots; peduncles 1-2 cm; pedicels ca. 1 cm, glabrous. Calyx subentire, glabrous. Ovary (4 or)5-carpellate; styles united to middle, free portions recurved. Fruit globose, ca. 6 mm. Fl. Jun-Jul, fr. Aug-Oct.
