Herbs, perennial, 10-15 cm tall. Stems abbreviated, inconspicuous. Stipules lanceolate. Leaves 8-15 cm, 9-13-foliolate; leaflet blades ovate to elliptic, 1.2-1.6 × 0.5-0.7 cm, abaxially with dense silvery appressed trichomes, adaxially glabrous. Racemes dense, ovoid, with many flowers; bracts ovate-lanceolate, ca. 2 × as long as pedicel; peduncle longer than leaves. Pedicel less than 1 mm. Calyx campanulate, 5-6 mm, pubescent; teeth lanceolate-subulate, 1.5-2 × as long as tube. Corolla pinkish purple; standard obovate, 1-1.2 cm; wings ca. 4/5 as long as standard; keel slightly shorter than standard. Ovary pubescent. Legume divided into 3-5 articles; articles pubescent, prickly. Fl. Jul-Aug, fr. Aug-Sep.
