Herbs, perennial, 50-90 cm tall. Stems numerous, erect. Stipules triangular-lanceolate, 0.8-1.2 cm, connate less than to middle. Leaves 8-12 cm, 11-17-foliolate; leaflet blades oblong-ovate, 3-3.5 × 0.6-0.7 cm, abaxially sparsely pilose, adaxially glabrous. Racemes dense, oblong, with many flowers; bracts lanceolate, slightly longer than pedicel; peduncle conspicuously longer than leaves. Pedicel 2-3 mm. Calyx campanulate, 6-7 mm, pubescent; teeth lanceolate-subulate, ca. 2 × as long as tube. Corolla pinkish purple; standard 1.5-1.7 cm; wings ca. 1/2 as long as standard; keel ± as long as standard. Ovary pubescent. Legume divided into 2 or 3 articles; articles ellipsoid to globose, 4-5 × 3-4 mm, inflated, pubescent, prickly, margin thickened. Fl. Jun-Jul, fr. Jul-Aug.
