Plants robust, 6–10 cm high or more, yellowish green to light brown, in dense tufts. Stems erect, often with elongate and flexuose branches above, tomentose below; central strand present. Leaves widely spreading, falcate-secund above, lanceolate, up to 1.2(–1.5) cm long, from a small, deeply concave, ovate base, gradually narrowed to tubulose, capillary tips, often strongly crimped and denticulate; margins plane or inflexed, entire below, bordered by 3–10 rows of linear, hyaline cells; costa very slender, reddish brown, excurrent, dentate at back above; cells elongate-rectangular to linear, thick-walled, smooth, pitted to porose; alar cells differentiated, forming distinct, brownish auricles, extending to halfway to costa, with thickened and sinuate longitudinal walls. Dioicous. Setae solitary to multiple, erect, 1.0(–1.5) cm long, pale yellowish, soon becoming lateral by innovating stems; capsules short to elongate-cylindric, 2–4 mm long, pale brown, curved when dry; opercula slightly obliquely long-rostrate. Spores not seen.

Habitat: on tree trunks or rotten wood in forests; Distribution: China, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Papua New Guinea, and New Cladonia.
