Plants small, dark green to brownish green, gregarious. Leafy stems simple or branched, 8–11 mm long, 1.5–2.0 mm wide; axillary hyaline nodules not differentiated; cortical cells small and thick-walled, central strand not differentiated. Leaves up to 52 pairs, lower leaves small, distant, upper leaves larger and densely arranged, lanceolate, 1.00–1.25 mm × 0.2–0.3 mm, acute at apex; base of dorsal laminae wedge-shaped, not decurrent; vaginant laminae ca. 1/2 the leaf length, slightly unequal; margins crenulate to nearly entire, bordered by a dark green colored band of 3–5 rows of cells, this colored band 2 cells thick; costa strong, brownish, percurrent to shortly excurrent; cells of apical and dorsal laminae one cell thick, quadrate to irregularly hexagonal, 7.5–12.5 µm long, somewhat thick-walled, smooth or indistinctly mammillose; upper cells of vaginant laminae similar to those of apical and dorsal laminae, but the lower cells longer. Dioicous. Female inflorescences terminal on main stems. Archegonia ca. 300 µm long. Sporophytes not seen.

Type. India: Assam, In rupibus madidis Moosmai, Griffith s.n., in Hb. Hooker (holotype NY).

Habitat: on partially shaded wet rocks near stream; Distribution: China and India.
