Perennial, herbaceous. Leaves simple with repand to dentate margins, petiolate; leaf bases sheathing. Umbels simple. Involucre of 2 bracts. Flowers subsessile. Fruit oval to orbicular; primary ridges prominent, secondary with reticulate markings. Inner seed face plane.
A genus of about 40 species, chiefly found in the Southern hemisphere.
