Caespitose perennials. Rhizome erect or ascending, short. Stem rigid, terete. Leaves basal; ligule 0. Inflorescence a multiple spike or anthelodium; bracts 2-6, much longer than inflorescence. Spikes with spirally arranged glumes. Flowers bisexual; perianth bristles numerous, longer than glumes, almost smooth; stamens 2; stigmas 3.
The genus, distributed in Pakistan, N. India to China and Vietnam, contains c. 2 species.
