Perennial herbs with erect stems. Flowers 5-merous, in lax dichasia. Aestivation Contorted. Calyx teeth 5; calyx veins 10. Petals with coronal scales. Stamens 10. Styles 5, opposite the calyx-teeth. Carpophore reduced. Capsule dehiscing by 10 teeth.
A genus of 12 species, distributed in temperate Europe and Asia. Represent in Pakistan by 1 species.
