Plants perennial. Leaves ternate or ternate-pinnate; leaflets lanceolate to oval. Rays up to 12. Involucre of 1 or 2 linear bracts or lacking. Involucel of several linear bractlets or lacking. Flowers white, greenish-yellow or purple. Calyx teeth obsolete. Fruit linear to cylindrical, fusiform or clavate, hirsute to bristly; apex beaked or tapering; ridges thin; vittae obscure. Inner seed face concave to sulcate.
A genus of about a dozen species from North and South America and Asia.
