Shrub. Leaves almost absent; alternate or fascicled, linear, oblong or spathulate, ochrea short. Flowers in fascicles, small, bisexual. Perianth segments 5-partite, petaloid, outer 2 segments finally reflexed, inner ones appressed to the fruit. Stamens 8, inserted at the mouth of the perianth; filaments filiform, hairy at base; anthers versatile. Ovary 3-angled, acuminate; styles 3; stigmas capitate. Fruit beaked, broadly 3-winged, each wing bilobed with the sinus above the middle. Seeds beaked, broad at base with eccentric embryo and oblong, short cotyledons.
A small genus with 5 species, distributed in S. and S.W. Asia. In Pakistan 2 species are reported.
