Perennial. Leaves pinnate. Central flower in an umbellet sessile and comĀ¬plete, surrounded by pedicellate male flowers. Calyx teeth 5, prominent. Fruit cylindrical to ellipsoid, narrowed at the top; ridges obtuse; furrows 1-3-vittate; pericarp membranous. Inner seed face deeply grooved.
A genus of about 10 species extending from the dry arid regions of N. Africa to Afghanistan and W. Pakistan.
