    Perennial, shrub, 12-15 cm tall, branches triquetrous, silky-pubescent. Terminal leaflets 6.5-10 cm long, 3-5 cm broad, lateral smaller, obovate, acute, glabrous above, silky below, stipels 7 mm long. Inflorescence axillary, 20 or more flowered pedunculate umbel. Pedicel 0-2.5 mm long, unequal. Calyx c. 5 mm long, silky pubescent, teeth subequal to the cup. Corolla 8.5 mm long, red. Fruit 1.8-2.5 cm long, pubescent, silky or glabrous, slightly curved, slightly more indented on the lower suture, articles 3-6, as long as broad.

    Type: Thunberg's specimen (LD).

    Distribution: Pakistan (introduced), India (Bengal, Assam, Bombay, Madras), Ceylon, Burma, Indonesia, Borneo, Thailand, Cambodia, Australia, Guinea.
