A smaller plant than the var. inermis, with the middle and upper stem leaves pinnatifid or lobed. The flowering heads are more numerous and the flowers are white.

Type: Habitat in Nepaliae alpinis Wallich (BM).
Distribution: Afghanistan, the temperate Himalayas from Kashmir to Bhutan and China.
More common than the type variety. Found from 1600-3500 m elevation.
