Juncus leucomelas* sensu Hook. f.
Differs from Juncus leucomelas Don by the short subtending bracts not exceeding the floral head. Plants rather densely caespitose and greener; perianth segments brownish. Also differs from Juncus triglumis L. by its exserted anthers and the ovoid-trigonous capsules, slightly exceeding the perianth.
Fl. per.: July-August.
Type: Described from N.W. Himalayas.
Distribution: C. Asia (Pamir-Alai, Mongolia), Tibet, Kashmir (Deosai & Baltistan) and N.W. Himalayas.
A plant of alpine bogs and meadows, confined to the Deosai and Baltistan areas at altitudes above 12000 ft.
