Annual, thickly pubescent throughout, hairs appressed, white; stems few, up to 2 m long. Leaf palmately compound, leaflets 7-9, c. 25-35 mm long, c. 14-18 mm broad, obovate, mucronate, glabrous above, pubescent below; stipules adnate. Inflorescence subsessile, few flowered. Pedicel 1-2 mm long. Calyx 8-9 mm long, both lips shallowly lobed. Corolla 8-14 mm long, white to dark azure. Fruit 8-11 cm long, subcylindric, 5-6-seeded.

Type: Herb. Linn. 898.2 (LINN).

Cultivated as an ornamental plant; native of the Mediterranean region.
