Resembles the preceding species, from which it differs in the entire or emarginate calyx lobes, the white or pinkish white corolla, and the filaments which are as long as the corolla lobes.

Distribution: S. Europe, C. Asia, Turkey, W. Syria, Lebanon, Iran, Afghanistan, W. Himalayas from Kashmir to Kumaon, Pakistan.
Plant material from the Murree Hills differs in the broader and less spiny leaves, and the larger involucral bracts.
