Prostrate, rarely ascending, branched, 5-7 cm high, annual herb. Stem glarbous, angular, branched, internodes almost completely covered with ochreae. Leaves very small, 1.75-3.5 x c. 0.5 mm, oval, acute-acuminate, entire, margin recurved, dotted. Ochreae 1-2 mm long, ovate, tubular, 2-3 partite-lacerate, silvery, hyaline. Inflorescence solitary, axillary, rarely 2 flowers per axil. Flowers very small, c. 1.0 mm across, sessile, covered with ochreae. Ochreolae very small, ovate, acuminate to long-acuminate. Tepals 5, biseriate, 1.0-1.25 x 0.5-0.75 mm, elliptic, obtuse-acute. Stamens (4-) 5, filaments short; anthers basifixed. Ovary 0.5-0.75 mm long, trigonous, with 3 short styles and fimbriate stigmas. Nuts 1.5-2.0 x 0.5-0.75 mm, trigonous, slightly exserted, dark brown, glabrous.

Fl. Per.: June-August.

Type: Himalaya occident: in Prov. Kashmir: in labro sicco lacus Cashmirensis intra circuitu oppidi Srinagger 10 Aug. bis 30 Sept. 1856 Schlagintweit Herb. India and High Asia as 2 Gen. No. 4290 (B) Iso (K!).

Distribution: Endemic to Kashmir.

A rare or under-collected species. We have not come across any other specimen belonging to this taxon with the exception of type collected by Schlagintweit from Kashmir, though Munshi & Javeid, l.c. recorded many specimens from Srinagar and its vicinity; seems to be localized in Srinagar only.
