Syntypes: Western Tibet; Karakorum, alt. 12000 ft. Clarke (K!); Lahul, Jaeschke (K); Chamba, Ellis (K).
Grows between 1500-4500 m; Distribution: Pakistan, Kashmir, India and Xizang.
Polygonum rottboellioides var. tibetica is more common in our area than the type variety; quite close to P. polycnemoides but plants are glabrous and the perianth tube is smaller in the latter taxon.
