15a. Carex pseudofoetida subsp. peudofoetida
Stem 10-25 cm. Rhizome 2.5-4 mm in diam., at first covered with brown, yellowish or pinkish scales. Stem 1.5-2.5 mm in diam., characteristically thin below inflorescence (c. 1 mm). Leaves up to half of stem length; sheaths 30-70 mm, strongly nerved, grey- or yellow-brown or pink; blades 2-3, 10 mm wide, involute or folded, seldom flat. Inflorescence of 5-10 spikes. Lowest bracts occasionally overtopping its spike. Female glumes 4-4.5 x 1.4-2.2 mm, ovate, from obtuse to acute or with arista up to 0.5 mm. Utricles 4.1-4.8 x 1.2-1.8 mm, ovoid to ellipsoid or fusiform, obscurely to rather clearly nerved, with stipe up to 0.7 mm; beak smooth.

Alpine meadows, along rivers; Distribution: In central Asian Russia from Pamir to Tian Shan Mts.
Expected to be present in Pakistan.
