A small basally woody shrublet with upright, numerous, 20 – 40 (-50) cm tall, erect, sulcate-anglular, purpureus-yellow, primarily tomentose to glabrescent or almost glabrous branches from c. 1.5 cm thick, suberect, wood, 10 – 15 cm long rootstock, with purple-brown cork. Leaves green or greyish-green, whitish hairy to almost glabrous, densely punctate glandular; basal and lower stem leaves petiolate, ovate, 2 – 3 x 1.5 – 2.5 cm, 2-3-pinnatisect inot linear, 3 – 6 x 0.5 – 1 mm, obtue, mucronulate segments; middle and upper stem leaves oblong, sessile, basally auriculate, uppermost in floral region linear-lanceolate, 2.5 – 5 mm long, entire, carinate. Capitula sessile, erect, remote to approximate, ovate, 3 – 3.5 x 2 mm, in long narrow, ± congested panicle with up to 20 cm long, ascending primary branches bearing 1 – 5 cm long, ascending to appressed secondary branches. Involucre 5-7-seriate, phyllaries completely imbricate, punctate-glandular, outermost very small, ovate, c. 1 mm long, keeled, green, sparsely hairy, inner gradually larger, narrowly elliptic-oblong, c. 1.8 x 1 mm, membranous margined. Florets 4 – 5, greenish-yellow.

Mountain slopes in fine sandy-clay soils with gravel; Distribution: Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Central Asia (Pamir Alai).
