Perennial, c. 10-60 cm tall, branched from almost the base, stem glabrous. Leaf imparipinnately compound, petiole c. 1.2-5.0 cm long, rachis c. 1.2-5.0 cm long, leaflets 11-15, oblong or elliptic, c. 3-18 mm long, c. 3-6 mm broad, entire, retuse, glabrous above, sparingly pubescent or glabrous below; stipules c. 3-8 mm long, connate. Inflorescence an axillary pedunculate raceme; peduncle c. 2.5-20 cm long,-black pubescent. Bracts c. 4-6 mm long, black-pubescent. Calyx c. 3.5-4.5 mm long, densely black-pubescent, or hairs black and white, teeth c. 2.2-2.5 mm long. Corolla red or pale pink. Vexillum c. 7 mm long. Wing c. 5-6 mm long. Keel c. 4-5 mm long, Fruit c. 4-5 mm long, globular or ovoid, densely black-pubescent, unilocular, 2-seeded.

Holotype: Himalaya, Hoffmeister (B-not seen).
Distribution: Pakistan (N.W.F. Province); Kashmir; India (N. Punjab, Kumaun, Garhwal); Tibet; Russia, Pamir Alai; Afghanistan.
