The Swede or the Swedish turnip, also called `Rutabaga' is a biennial with tuberized stem base and tap root. It is not much cultivated in the area and is said to be a polyploid derived by crossing Brassica oleracea and Brassica napus.
Type: Described from England.

It differs from the common turnip (Brassica rapa ssp. rapa) in having a small neck above the tuberous root and yellowish flesh inside.
