Erect herb, c. 30-60 cm tall, branches pilose, hairs long, spreading. Leaf simple, subsessile, c. 2.5-8.0 cm long, c. 4.5-13 mm broad, linear-oblong, obtuse, apiculate, pubescent, hairs silky, long, spreading; stipules c. 6-10 mm long. Inflorescence a 6-9-flowered terminal raceme. Bract foliaceous, lanceolate, pilose; bracteoles c. 6-7 mm long, beneath the calyx, pilose. Calyx 1.2-1.6 cm long, pilose, hairs long, spreading; upper segments lanceolate, lower linear. Corolla not exserted. Fruit c. 1.8-3.2 cm long, inflated, glabrous when ripe, 20-30-seeded.
