 Alstonia lucida  D. DonTrachelospermum fragrans  Hook. f.
A climbing, evergreen shrub, young shoots ± pubescent with copious milky latex. Leaves 5-15 x 2.5 cm elliptic-lanceolate, acuminate, glabrous, shining green above, paler beneath with 10-15 pairs of lateral nerves; petiole 4-8 mm long, pubescent or puberulous, with glands at the axil. Flowers white, fragrant; bracts minute. Calyx lobes erect, c. 2.5 mm long, divided deeply, forming a very short tube, lobes ovate, rounded, ciliate. Corolla tube, c. 1 cm long, dilated at the top, glabrous, mouth hairy, lobes overlapping to the right in bud, spreading, obcuneate-cuneate, obliquely truncate at apex. Stamens included, connivent to the top of the style. Disc 5-lobed, erect, almost equalling the ovary; ovules numerous; style filiform. Fruit 15-30 x c. 0.5 cm, cylindrical, acuminate; pericarp thin and smooth. Seeds c. 1.5 cm long, brown, linear, flattened and obtuse. Coma ± equalling the seed.

Type: Described from Nepal.  
Distribution: A native of North West Hamalayas, Northern India, Nepal and Kashmir.
