Carum cylindricum Boiss. & Hoh.
10-30 cm tall, dichotomously branched. Basal leaves petiolate; leaf bases sheathing; leaves 2-pinnate; segments linear; upper leaves with shorter petioles or subsessile. Involucre of 5-6 linear bracts. Rays 8-12, unequal, stout, up to 5 cm long. Involucel of 5-7 linear to lanceolate bractlets, margins white. Petals white, 1.5 to 2 mm long. Stylopodium flattened to conical; styles 1 mm long, reflexed. Fruit pedicels 3-5 mm long, thick. Fruit cylindrical, 5-6 mm long; ridges prominent; furrows 1-vittate; commissure 2-vittate. Inner seed face slightly concave.
Type locality: Northern Iran.
Distribution: Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, Southern USSR, W. Pakistan.
