Plants up to 70 cm tall, glabrous. Roots in older plants c. 2 cm thick at the base. Stem base with persistent leaf bases. Leaves few, mostly basal, 2-3-pinnate; pinnae oblong to oval or ovate, toothed; tips mucronate. Rays 4-8, 1-3 cm long. Involucre of 1-4 scarious, linear to lanceolate bracts. Involucel similar to the involucre. Petals white. Ovary glabrous. Fruit 4 mm long; stylopodium conical; styles deflexed; dorsal and intermediate ridges obtuse, lateral narrowly winged; furrows 1-vittate; commissure 2-vittate.
Type: Afghanistan, near Kabul, Gilli (W).
Distribution: Afghanistan, W. Pakistan.
