Draba pakistanica Jafri, sp. nov.
Draba koeiei Rech. f.
Herba perennis laxe caespitosa, 10-15 (-20) cm alta pilosa. Folia radicalia rosulata, 10-24 mm longa, 2.3 mm lata, oblanceolata vel elliptica ad basin cuneata integra ciliato-pilosa, pilis simplicibus vel furcatis, nervis mediano distinctis. Scapis aphyllis, 10-25 (-35)-floris erectis. Floris flavis, 3-5 mm diameteris pedicellatis; pedicelli in fructu (5-) 7-10 mm longi. Sepalis c. 2 mm longis, 1 mm latis pilosis. Petalis 3.5-4 mm longis, 2 mm latis flavis. Siliculis (submaturis) c. 6 mm longis, 2-3 mm latis, ovato-lanceolatis vel ovato-ellipticis; stylis c. 1 mm longis; stigmatis depressis; valvis dense ciliato-pilosis, pilis brevis simplicis vel furcatis; semina 4-6, brunea; septum membranaceum.
Fl.Per.: May -June.
Types: Chitral gol, W. of Chitral, 3800 m, on stony slopes, fls. yellow, Stainton 2670 (BM,RAW,HJ).
Distribution: Endemic to Pakistan (Chitral).
Very similar to Draba koeiei Rech.f. but siliculae (almost mature) ovate-lanceolate or ovate-elliptic. Also resembles Draba affghanica Boiss. but plants taller, hairs on leaves conspicuously ciliate and siliculae minutely but conspicuously pubescent with short, usually simple, somewhat ciliate hairs.
