Rechinger f. (l.c.) included this species from Chitral, citing Kerstan 1581, and Wendelbo's specimen (which Wendelbo himself had identified as Matthiola flavida ), but deleted this species entirely from the area in his Fl. Iran. However, he cited Wendelbo's gatherings under his newly described species, Matthiola tenera (Rech. f., l.c. 235). Kitamura (l.c.) included Matthiola runcinata for Afghanistan and Pakistan, perhaps simply following Rechninger, but without citing any specimen under it. Matthiola runcinata Regel (which should probably be called Matthiola obovate Bunge) seems to be confined to C. Asia.
