Papaver rubro-auriantiacum (Fisch. ex DC.) Steud.
with reddish-orange flowers (fading when dried) may sometimes be confused with this species but dense silky white hairs on its buds are distinctive.
Fl.Per. May-Aug.
This species has no narcotic value. It is commonly known as “Iceland poppy” and under cultivation in gardens, has flowers 3-8 cm in diam., yellowish to orange in colour.
