Bulbs ovoid to globose, 2-6 cm broad, coats greyish-black, papery. Scape c. 1 m tall. Leaves broadly linear, 1-3 cm broad, glabrous. Umbels globose, 6-7 cm across, many flowered. Pedicels c. 3 cm long, Tepals purple, lanceolate, 5-6 mm long, acute to obtuse. Stamens longer than the tepals; filaments entire, inner broader than the outer, triangular.
Type: Described from cultivated material from Kabul. Maclean (K).
Distribution: Central Asia, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
