Pterocephalus gedrosiacus Rech.f., Aellen & Esfandiari in Anz. Osterr. Akad. Wiss. Math.-Nat. 87.188. 1950.
A caespitose perennial, 1 m or more tall. Stem suffruticose. Young branches puberulous. Leaves elliptic-lanceolate, alternate at the base, 2-5.3 cm long, 2.5-5 mm broad, pubescent. Flowering heads subglobose, 1.2-1.7 cm broad, up to 2 cm in fruit on 9.5-15 cm long, pubescent peduncles. Involucral bracts lanceolate, 1 cm long, puberulous, often purplish. Ray florets 8-9.5 mm long, the disc ones shorter. Calyx setae 13-18, shorter than the corolla. Anthers exserted. Stigma included in the outer flowers. Involucel ± 2.5 mm long, truncate, villous.

Distribution: Iran and Pakistan.
Not common. This is a new record for Pakistan.
