Indigofera articulata Gouan, Illustr. 49. 1773. Gillett in Kew Bull.Add. Ser.13:102.1958; Ali in Bot.Notiser 111:565.1958.

Erect, branched undershrub, c. 1 m or less tall, branches white canescent, pubescence appressed, greyish white. Leaf imparipinnately compound, rachis up to 6 cm long, white canescent; leaflets up to 7 per leaf, lateral leaflets opposite to subopposite, c. 8-22 mm long, c. 5-17 mm broad, obovate to elliptic, obtuse, greyish canescent on both sides, hairs appressed; petiolule c. 1 mm long; stipules lateral, c. 1 mm long. Inflorescence a 10-20-flowered almost sessile raceme. Bract c. 1-1.5 mm long; pedicel c. 1-1.5 mm long. Calyx c. 1.5-2.0 mm long, pubescent; teeth deltoid, slightly smaller than the cup. Vexillum c. 3 mm long, densely appressed pubescent externally. Ovary sessile, pubescent, style glabrous, stigma capitate. Fruit 7-9 mm long, torulose, pubescent, 1-3-seeded, each 1-seeded por¬tion globose.

Distribution: Pakistan, Arabia, Egypt, Syria, Jordan, East Tropical Africa, Santo Domingo; introduced in Jamaica and Cuba.
