Aspalathus ulcinus (Stocks) O.Kuntze
A small, pubescent shrub, with dark brown bark. Leaf pinnate compound, rachis c. 1-1.5 cm long, persistent, spinescent; leaflets 3-5 mm long, 2-3 mm broad, obcordate-obovate, retuse-mucronate, pubescent; stipules spiny, 4-6 mm long. Inflorescence solitary axillary, peduncle 1-2-flowered. Calyx pubescent, teeth shorter than tube. Vexillum 15-18 mm long. Fruit linear, c. 2.5 cm long, pubescent, acuminate-acute.
