Oxytropis chitralensis Ali in Phyton. 8:50. 1959. 11:102.1964.

Perennial herb, stem creeping, older stem covered with persistent stipules. Leaf imparipinnate. Petiole c. 2.5-4.5 cm long, rachis 6-15 cm long. Leaflets 30-40, verticillate to subverticillate, occasionally alternate or opposite, c. 4-10 mm long, c. 1-3 mm broad, lanceolate to oblong-lanceolate, acute, uniformly pubescent on both sides, hairs spreading; stipules lateral, c. 1-1.5 cm long, pilose externally. Inflorescence a peduncled raceme, peduncle c. 7-15 cm long, hirsute. Bracts c. 2-3 mm long. Pedicel c. 1-2 mm long. Calyx c. 8-10 mm long, pubescent, teeth c. 5 mm long. Vexillum c. 10 mm long. Wing c. 9-10 mm long. Keel c. 8-10 mm long (including c. 1-2 mm long mucro). Ovary c. 3-4 mm long, pubescent, stipe c. 1-3 mm long.

Holotype: A-7 Chitral, medial moraine south of Barum Glacier, c. 3700 m, Per Wendelbo s.n. 12.7.1950 (K).

Distribution: Pakistan (N.W.F. Province), endemic.
