Astragalus kashmirensis Bunge, Astrag. 1:30. 1868. 2:34.1869; Baker in Hook.f.,Fl.Brit.Ind. 2:127.1876; Ali in Biologia 7:43.1961.

Stem erect, c. 30 cm or less tall, pubescent, hairs long. Leaf imparipinnately compound, c. 7.5-10 cm long, distinctly petioled; leaflets 29-33, c. 11-20 mm long, 5-12 mm broad, oblong, obtuse or acute, pubescent, hairs long; stipules c.1.2-1.3 cm long. Inflorescence an axillary peduncled raceme, peduncle c. 4.5-11.5 cm long, bracts c. 6-10 mm long, pubescent; pedicel c. 2-3.5 mm long. Calyx c. 10-13 mm long, teeth shorter than the tube. Vexillum c. 18-20 mm long, exceeding the wings and keel. Fruit c. 1.2-1.3 cm long, linear-oblong, finely pubescent, bilocular, 6-8-seeded.

Lectotype: Kashmir, ex Herb. Falconer 420 (K); Syntype: Kashmir, Jacquemont 778 (K;P).

Astragalus malacophyllus Benth. ex Bunge and Astragalus kashmirensis Bunge though originally placed in different subgenera, are closely related.
