Astragalus congestus Baker in J.Linn.Soc.(Bot.). 19:158. 1882. Ali in Biologia 7:19.1961.
Stem woody, perennial, covered by spiny persistent raches. Leaf paripinnately compound, c. 1.8-2.6 cm long, leaflets 8-12, c. 3-6.5 mm long, lanceolate, pubescent on both the sides; stipules c. 6-8.5 mm long. Inflorescence an axillary sessile 4-8-flowered raceme. Bract c. 3.0-4.0 mm long, persistent. Calyx in flower c. 7-9 mm long, pubescent, teeth c. 3-4 mm long, enlarging in fruit. Vexillum c. 9.0-10.5 mm long. Fruit sessile, c. 4-4.5 mm long, included inside the enlarged calyx.
