A glaucous-greenish, caespitose, rigid perennial; flowers 3-3.5 (4) mm long; perianth segments lanceolate, the outer ones slightly exceeding the somewhat broader inner ones, ± acute; anthers exceeding the length of filaments. Capsules slightly shorter than perianth, shortly beaked.

Type: Fergana, dist., Marghelan, in salsis humidis septentrionem versus ad can.Khanaryk, n° 544, 14.5.1913,N.Dessiatowa (LE).
Distribution: C. Asia, Pakistan (Baluchistan) and Afghanistan.
Differs from Juncus gerardii Lois. by its short style, like those in Juncus compressus Jacq., and acute perianth segments. This seems to prefer saline habitat like Juncus gerardii. Lois.
