Mattiastrum honigbergeri Rech. f.Paracaryum asperum Stocks
Branched perennial up to 60 cm tall. Stem and branches hairy with suberect hairs 1-2 mm long, arising from tuberculate bases. Basal leaves oblanceolate to obovate (including petiole), 40-100 x 7-12 mm, densely hairy on both surfaces. Cauline leaves smaller, sessile, Inflorescence usually terminal, lax. Pedicels 2-3 mm long, up to 6 mm in fruit. Calyx densely hairy; lobes 3-5 mm long, linear-oblong, Corolla blue to purple-blue, 9-12 mm long; tube cylindric, limb broad, lobes obtuse. Throat appendages ± crescent shaped. Nutlets 8-10 mm long, ovoid, margin broadly winged; wings with glochidiate and dentate teeth. Dorsal middle area with erect glochidiate appendages.

Type: Baluchistan superior, Stocks 906 (K).
Distribution: Afghanistan, Baluchistan (Pakistan).
Fairly distinct from our other species in the larger flowers; from 1500-2500 m.
