Annual, erect herb, 5-20 cm long. Stem quadrangular, slightly scabrid or smooth. Leaves 4 in a whorl, 4-15 x 1-4 (-7) mm oblong, spathulate, narrowly obovate or oblanceolate, obtuse, entire, scabrid, hairs ascending, petiole short or absent, glabrous or pubendent. Inflorescence 5-6 flowered white, prominantly veined, softly hairy or glabrous, ovate-obovate, 3-6 mm long, folded lengthwise or not, pedicel 1-2 mm long. Corolla 4-lobed, c. 0.5 mm long, cup-shaped, yellowish-green. Fruit 1.2-1.8 mm long, oblong or cylindrical slightly curved, hispid, specially towards apex, 1-seeded.
