Caudex erect, sometimes a small tree-like trunk, or rhizome creeping or scandent. Fronds
monomorphic or dimorphic, usually pinnate or pinnatifid, rarely simple or bipinnate; stipes scaly at
base, not articulate to rhizome; venation usually free, or with a costal row of areolae. Sori costal,
discrete or in a coenosori; usually with an indusium opening towards costa, rarely exindusiate. Spore
bilaterale. Adult gametophytes cordate.
Nine or ten genera, five in Taiwan.
