Liparis bituberculata var. formosana (Rchb. f.) Ridl.
Terrestrial herbs. Stems cylindrical, fleshy, 5-15 cm long, 1-1.5 cm in diam. Leaves 2-4, obliquely elliptic or ovate, 7-12 cm long. 4-6 cm wide, apex acute, base obtuse, strongly plicate. Peduncles and rachis green or tinged with pale purple, ca. 30 cm long, winged; bracts triangular, 2-3 mm long, reflexed; pedicel and ovary 11-14 mm long, with 6 acute ridges. Flowers ca. 30, green, tinged with purple or purplish; dorsal sepal lanceolate, 10-12 mm long, 2-2.5 mm wide, with 3 pale veins, obtuse at apex, contracted at base; lateral sepals horizontally spreading, ovate-oblong, 7-9 mm long, 3-4 mm wide, acuminate at apex, contracted at base, often twisted and reflexed, 3-nerved; petals spreading, often ascending, linear, 9-10 mm long, 1 mm wide, 1-nerved; lip purple but often paler near margin, obovate, 7 mm long, 5 mm wide, entire, emarginate at apex, cuneate at base, bent abruptly downward from near base, with 2 small calli on disc near base; column +/- arcuate, pale green or partially tinged with purple, 4-5 mm long, apex with distinct broad truncate wings with acute edges, base dilated; anther reddish with white margin, orbicular-ovate, ca. 1.2 mm long; pollinia obliquely ovoid, ca. 1 mm long. Capsules ellipsoid, 1.8-2.2 cm long, pedicel 5 mm long.
