Type: China. Qinghai: Haiyan Xian, Kokonor [Qinghai Hu], P. Q. Zhong 8360 (holotype, KUN; isotypes, HNWP, PE, WUK). A var. straminea sepalis quadruplo majoribus corolla multo longiore differt.
Sepals ca. 8 × 3.5 mm. Corolla ca. 28 mm with narrow crest.
● E Qinghai (Haiyan).
The varietal epithet refers to the large sepals, from Greek μέγας (megas, "big") and κάλυξ (calyx, "calyx").
