Perennial. Taproot elongated. Leaves 2-3-pinnatisect; segments filiform to oval. Flowers white to rose coloured. Calyx teeth 5, minute or obsolete. Stylopo¬dium short, conical. Fruit elliptic or oblong to ovoid; ridges conspicuous; furrows I-(3)-vittate; commissure 2-4-vittate. Inner seed face plane.
A genus of about 30 species in Europe, North Africa and Asia. It is closely allied to Bunium but without a tuberous root.
